Project Description
The project involves the construction and management of an LPG import facility, with a storage capacity of 8 000 t, at the Port of Saldanha.
The import facility and associated infrastructure will comprise eight moulded bullet tanks for storage, an on-site road tanker filling facility, up to five road tanker loading bays and a 2.4-km-long pipeline to the Transnet multipurpose berth.
The project will be the first significant dedicated LPG import facility on a 4 300 km shoreline, stretching from Luanda, in Angola, to Richards Bay on the KwaZulu-Natal coast.
An LPG supply of 100 000 t/y has been secured from the Bonny River Terminal, in Nigeria, for this purpose.
The first shipment of LPG is scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of 2014.

Duration
Construction of the import facility is expected to start in July and will be commissioned by the end of 2013.
