South African Airways Technical (SAAT) on Tuesday signed a five-year contract with SR Technics (SRT), extending the companies’ long-term cooperation regarding South African Airways’ (SAA’s) Airbus A340 fleet’s CFM 56-5C engines.

The contract would now run until 2018, with all work to be carried out at SRT’s facilities in Zurich.

“As a subsidiary of the SAA group, the relationship we have with SRT complements SAAT’s strategy to strengthen our capabilities, thus enabling us to expand our operations. This agreement also allows us to drive the bottom line from a cost perspective,” SAAT CEO Musa Zwane said.

SRT president André Wall commented that the company was pleased to continue supporting SAA’s future growth through its technical services. “The renewed contract also shows our price competitiveness and excellent global service levels in terms of quality and reliability,” he added.
