President Jacob Zuma and his Mozambique counterpart President Filipe Nyusi have encouraged the private sector in both States to invest in each other’s territories to further trade and investment growth and create job opportunities.

At the South Africa-Mozambique Binational Commission, the Heads of State identified cooperation in the fields of science and technology, agriculture, tourism and energy as key investment areas.

“We have directed the relevant Ministers to identify and implement joint projects in terms of gas infrastructure and development,” Zuma added during Nyusi’s first State visit to South Africa.

He noted that Mozambique remained one of South Africa’s biggest trading partners on the African continent and that the countries had, to date, signed 69 agreements and memoranda of understanding, indicating the extent and depth of their cooperation.

Further, Zuma highlighted that a business forum had been organised, comprising high level business delegations from both countries to increase economic cooperation.
