Name of the Project
Ring of Fire electrification plan.

Location
Ontario, Canada.

Project Owner/s
KWG Resources.

Project Description
The Ring of Fire capital expenditure (capex) study has found that the electrification of Marten Falls, Webequie, Eeabematoong, Nneskantaga and Nibinamik First Nations is economically feasible with railveyor tramway installation.

The main corridor electrical infrastructure will provide electricity for mining operations at the Ring of Fire and for operation of the railveyor ore haulage tramway system from the company’s proposed mine in the Ring of Fire, along a 330 km corridor to a proposed processing or transshipment location near Nakina, Ontario.

The Indigenous communities electrical infrastructure will connect the First Nations communities of Marten Falls at Ogoki Post, Webequie and Eabematoong at Fort Hope, Neskantaga at Lansdowne House and Nibinamik at Summer Beaver, to the Ontario power grid and optical-fibre networks, and will eliminate diesel generation, except in outage emergencies.
