Reinvented grinding wheels promise improved performance
Grinding wheels are considered indispensable tools in a range of applications but may also have a number of drawbacks related to ergonomics and efficiency.
Tool solutions company PFERD offers a number of alternatives to the traditional grinding wheel, promising higher performance and improved ergonomics.
The company explains that its CC-GRIND range of products aims to achieve the highest possible stock removal in the shortest possible time. In addition, the tools aim to provide reduced vibration, reduced noise and dust pollution and improved tool handling. The range includes the SOLID, FLEX and STRONG variants.
The CC-GRIND-SOLID and CC-GRIND-FLEX options feature VICTOGRAIN, the company’s new high-performance abrasive grain, and are suited to applications that require a high degree of aggressiveness and fast work progress. The company asserts that its CC-GRIND-SOLID grinding discs boast stock removal rates which are 100% higher than conventional grinding wheels and that the VICTOGRAIN variants boast performance which is a further 100% higher. The CC-GRIND-SOLID SGP STEEL is suitable for steel applications and the CC-GRIND-SOLID SGP INOX is used for stainless steel applications.
The CC-GRIND-STRONG grinding discs promise a tool life that is almost three times longer than the classic CC-GRIND-SOLID variant. In addition, it boasts additional ergonomic benefits, a 50% reduction in vibration and dust reduction of up to 70%.
PFERD also offers the CERAMIC COMFORT hybrid grinding wheel, which can be used like a conventional grinding wheel, with the added benefit of improved ergonomics and lower levels of noise emission and vibration than conventional grinding wheels. The hybrid grinding wheel combines a layer of abrasive on an underlay with a classic grinding wheel.
The CC-GRIND-STRONG grinding discs and CERAMIC SG COMFORT grinding wheel from PFERD are both locally manufactured at the company’s subsidiary in Johannesburg.
