PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Ramelius Resources has again exceeded quarterly gold production forecasts, with the miner announcing on Monday that it had produced 27 793 oz of gold.

The December quarterly production was 11% ahead of expectations, and followed on from a strong September quarter production, which also exceeded forecasts by 13%.

The Mt Magnet operation, in Western Australia, produced 11 834 oz of gold during the quarter, which was in line with the guidance of 12 000 oz, while the Kathleen Valley operation delivered 15 959 oz of gold, ahead of the 12 000 oz guidance.

“Another excellent quarter from the operations team at all three sites has seen Ramelius complete an excellent year in 2015, leaving the company very well placed heading into 2016,” said MD Mark Zeptner.

During the quarter, development work also proceeded at the Vivien gold mine, where ore haulage was expected to start in the March quarter.

A 2014 feasibility study estimated that capital expenditure of A$20-million would be required to build Vivien into a mine delivering about 109 000 oz of gold over 30 months.
