Proconics' expertise aligns with national projects and is poised to contribute to Eskom’s Transmission Development Plan.

Engineering Firm Proconics was among the 14 companies that joined the Eskom Transmission Owner’s Engineer (OE) Panel at a recent signing ceremony event held at Eskom headquarters in Megawatt Park.

Joining this panel not only underscores Proconics' engineering excellence, it further strengthens the organisation’s commitment to supporting a sustainable energy future.

“As a member of the OE panel, Proconics is poised to bid on task orders issued by Eskom when specialised OE services are required. This capability is essential to support Eskom achieve the national imperative,” said Proconics MD Reginald Mbatha..

“This strategic position aligns with Eskom's ambitious Transmission Development Plan (TDP), aimed at significantly expanding South Africa's transmission infrastructure over the next eight years.”

The TDP aims to introduce about 14 000 km of new transmission lines, representing a nearly 50% increase in infrastructure capacity.

Group Executive for Renewables, Transmission, and Distribution Louis Hall emphasised the pivotal role of this transmission grid expansion in facilitating South Africa's energy transition, from coal-centric power generation to renewable sources like wind and solar.

“Proconics brings a wealth of experience and a robust team of local transmission engineers who are ready and equipped to support Eskom in executing its critical TDP rollout. Our team's expertise not only ensures the efficient and effective completion of each project but also reinforces our commitment to enhancing South Africa's power infrastructure.”

Hall further explained that Proconics engineers have deep insights into “local, regulatory, environmental and technical challenges, ensuring tailored solutions that are both practical and efficient.”

By participating in the TDP, Proconics will aid South Africa's transition towards a more sustainable and diversified energy mix, reducing reliance on coal and promoting renewable energy sources.

“We look forward to a successful collaboration with Eskom and to making a lasting impact on the nation's energy future,” he added.
