Gauteng-based Pro Auto Rubber, which was established in 1995 to mainly service the automotive industry, has grown into a large company specialising in rubber extrusions, mouldings, flocking profiles, coextruded rubber profiles, rubber and seal kits for various makes of vehicles, rubber grommets, rubber insertions, sheeting and hoses.

The company, which employs just fewer than 50 people but forecasts its workforce will double when planned developments come to fruition, is a Level 3 black economic-empowerment contributor.

Its 10 000 m2 factory, at 218 Bosworth street, in Alrode South, south of Johannesburg, is equipped with two new microwave extrusion lines, ten transfer presses, a flocking machine and a rubber- mixing plant. The land for a bigger factory that can accommodate more machines and staff has already been acquired.

Besides the Alrode South premises, Pro Auto Rubber has branches in Boksburg, Randburg, Randfontein, Pretoria, Nelspruit, Bloemfontein, Durban, George and Cape Town.
