The Presidency confirmed on Tuesday that it had received the Special Investigating Unit’s (SIU’s) final report on the Digital Vibes investigation.

The SIU is probing a Daily Maverick exposé that the Department of Health irregularly awarded a R150-million contract in 2019 to Digital Vibes to provide communication services for government’s National Health Insurance, which later expanded to include its Covid-19 response.

Digital Vibes is the communications firm apparently controlled by former aids of Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, who is on special leave pending the investigation.

The Presidency has promised to keep the public abreast after studying the report.

“It will do so in a manner that preserves information that may be or become the subject of prosecution, civil action or disciplinary proceedings,” the Presidency said in a statement.
