Cement producer PPC confirmed last week that Roland van Wijnen would formally take over as CEO from October 1.

This follows his being granted a work permit.

PPC announced in June that Van Wijnen, a Dutch national, had been appointed to succeed outgoing CEO Johan Claassen.

“He is an ideal appointment, as he has detailed knowledge of the cement sector. He is up to speed with our global strategic imperatives and will advance the process without any delays,” chairperson Jabu Moleketi said at the time.

Van Wijnen, who worked for LafargeHolcim for 17 years, has signed a four-year contract with PPC.

He will be tasked with building and developing the executive team and jointly accelerating the process of turning PPC into a high-performance organisation that offers superior products and solutions to customers.
