Project Description
At the Port of Klaipeda, the breakwaters pro­tecting the port from sea waves were con­structed more than a century ago.

The project entails the repair and reinforcement of two breakwaters.

The renovation work mainly involves the removal of the old stone base and the subsequent installation of a new layer of stone protection of different weights and sizes. In total, more than 400 000 t of stones will be used.

Among the existing elements of the harbour dykes, 25 t of tetrapods and concrete cubes of up to 40 t will be reused in the new construction.

The project also involves the installation of a new combi wall, a system combining sheet piling and tubular piles, made of steel anchored under water.

The upper concrete layer of the dykes will also be renovated and dredging will be undertaken.

€49-million has been earmarked for the project.
