Project Description
The project proposes the development of a new natural gas liquefaction and export terminal in Port Arthur, Texas.
The liquefaction project facilities are expected to include two natural gas liquefaction trains for a total export capacity of about ten-million tons a year; three 160 000 m³ liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks; marine facilities for vessel berthing and loading; natural gas liquids and refrigerant storage; feed gas pretreatment facilities; and truck loading and unloading areas, as well as combustion turbine generators for self-generation of electrical power.
The project will use a portion of Sempra’s estimated 1 174 ha property that includes up to 5 km of waterfront along the Sabine-Neches ship channel and 2 km of waterfront on the intracoastal waterway.

Australian oil and gas major Woodside is considering a joint venture with Sempra Energy to develop the proposed Port Arthur liquefaction project.
Sempra has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Woodside to start discussions and assessment for the potential development of the project.
