Petrol price to rise by 5c a litre, diesel by 45c a litre in August

Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe has announced the adjustment of fuel prices, with effect from August 5, with increases across the board, save for liquid petroleum gas (LPGas).

Petrol prices will rise by 5c a litre for all grades, while diesel prices will rise by 45c a litre for all grades.

Illuminating paraffin (wholesale) will increase by 39c a litre.

LPGas will decrease by 4c/kg.

During the review period, the rand strengthened, on average, against the dollar, while the average brent crude oil price increased from $40.01/bl to $43.49/bl.
