PERTH (miningweekly.com) – US-focused Peninsula Energy would acquire the Hauber uranium project, some 15 miles from its Lance project, in Wyoming, for $20 000.

The ASX-listed company said on Wednesday that the Hauber project comprised 44 mineral claims covering some 1 760 acres. Data for some 5 000 drill holes from the Hauber project and its surrounding area existed, along with maps, gamma logs and chemical assay information.

This information would be acquired as part of the transaction.

The Hauber project produced some 2.6-million pounds of uranium oxide from an underground mine and a number of small openpits during the 1950s and 1960s. The mine was closed in 1966 owing to unfavourable economic conditions.

Peninsula said that while the company’s immediate focus was on completing the construction and commissioning of the Lance project, over the coming months, the company would conduct a detailed analysis of the Hauber data and would develop an exploration and delineation drilling programme for future execution.
