PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner PanTerra Gold has appointed Zach Casley as its CEO as part of its plans to strengthen its senior management to evaluate expansion opportunities.

Casley replaces Brian Johnson, who will continue on as executive chairperson of PanTerra, and who will, in future, concentrate on business development and growth opportunities.

Casley has some 20 years of experience in the mining industry in a range of openpit and underground operational roles, both in Australia and overseas. This included senior roles at Lihir Gold’s Lihir mine, Newcrest Mining’s Cadia Valley operations, and Xstrata’s Mount Isa mines.

Immediately prior to joining PanTerra, he held the role of associate director at Macquarie Bank.

PanTerra told shareholders that Casley’s appointment was the first step in the company’s plans to strengthen its senior management in order to evaluate already identified expansion opportunities and to implement an exploration programme in the Dominican Republic.

The company would also look to improve the performance of the Las Lagunas gold/silver plant.
