Eskom's respected FD Paul O'Flaherty will not stay on at Eskom and his tenure ended after the State-owned group's annual results presentation on Wednesday.

The utility's chairperson Zola Tsotsi said work was under way to find a replacement.

In the interim, treasurer Caroline Henry had been appointed acting FD, while Dan Marokane, group executive commercial and technical, would take over responsibility for the capital investment programme, for which O'Flaherty was also responsible.

O'Flaherty served as FD for three-and-a-half years and joined before the utility had a funding plan for its large-scale capital programme.

It has since secured nearly 83% of a R300-billion funding plan for the period from 2010 to 2017.

Tsotsi said Eskom had two rounds of interviews to seek a replacement for O’Flaherty and that its board was investing time and effort to ensure that they replace him with a quality candidate. The board expects to conclude the selection process soon.
