Name and Location
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) pilot power plant project, China.

Client
Lockheed Martin and Reignwood Group.

Project Description
The project entails the development of an OTEC pilot power plant off the coast of southern China.

The 10 MW plant will be the largest OTEC project developed to date, supplying 100% of the power required for a green resort to be built by Reignwood Group.

OTEC uses the natural temperature difference in the ocean in tropical regions and uses it to create power and, unlike other renewable-energy technologies, this power is also baseload, which means it can be produced consistently, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The project will lay the groundwork for the development of several additional OTEC power plants, ranging in size from 10 MW to 100 MW.
