Name of the Project
Nubian solar photovoltaic (PV) project.

Location
The project will be located in Egypt, within the New and Renewable Energy Agency’s (NREA’s) 37.5 km2 Benban 1.8 GW PV solar park comprising 39 separate PV plots, situated 12 km west of the nearest village (Benban), and 15 km west of the Nile river.

Client
Nubian for Renewable Energy, a joint venture comprising Enerray, SECI Energia and Desert Technologies.

Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 50 MW ac solar PV power plant.

It will comprise a single-axis tracking system of about 201 000 PV panels, with a nominal capacity of 50 MW ac and a peak capacity of 63.36 MW dc. Power will be conveyed to an inverter and fed into the utility power grid system through the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) substation.

The plant will be operational for a 25-year period, with options to extend the lease after that date.

The project will be connected to the nearest of the EETC substations – substation 2 – on the eastern side of the Benban PV solar park by an underground 22 kV transmission line, installed by EETC. Jobs to be Created

The project aims to employ an average of 150 workers during construction (reaching a peak of about 300) and will employ eight workers during the operational phase of the project (excluding security and cleaning teams).

Value
The total project cost is estimated at $126.1-million.
