JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed Northam Platinum’s losses increased to R132-million in revenue and 11 500 oz of metal-in-concentrate production on Tuesday, as rock-drill operators (RDOs) at its Zondereinde mine continued to refuse to work.

About 580 RDOs have been going underground and reporting for duty but not drilling since April 2, demanding a 38% increase to their monthly production bonuses, which could account for about 40% of a workers’ remuneration.

The company continued to engage the National Union of Mineworkers to try to resolve the dispute.
