Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 446 km, 61 cm diameter pipeline. It will transport diluent (a product that is used to make heavy oil lighter and easier to transport). The pipeline will originate at Enbridge’s Stonefell terminal, in Strathcona County, and terminate at Enbridge’s Fort McMurray South facility, near Fort McMurray, with a transfer line to Suncor’s East tank farm. The project also includes associated pumping and tankage infrastructure.
The project will include four 2 237 kW main line pumps and a 1 000 bl tank at Enbridge’s Stonefell site and one at the Suncor East tank farm.
Wherever possible, the pipeline route will follow existing pipeline rights-of-way, utility corridors and road allowances to ensure minimal environmental impact.

$1.4-billion.
Duration
The project is scheduled to come into service in the second quarter of 2017.
