Nishinomiya municipal solid waste (MSW) incineration plant refurbishment project, Japan
Name and Location
Nishinomiya municipal solid waste (MSW) incineration plant refurbishment project, Hyogo prefecture, Japan.
Client
Nisihinomiya City.
Project Description
The Nishinomiya MSW incineration plant incorporates three stoker incinerators with capacity of 175 t/d each, and can generate up to 6 MW of electricity.
The project involves the refurbishment of the incineration plant, with a total capacity of 525 t/d to maintain the plant’s functionality, extend its service life, and further enhance energy conservation.
The project includes the replacement or refurbishment of superannuated equipment used primarily for incineration, combustion gas cooling, flue gas treatment and ventilation, as well as electrical and instrumentation systems.
It will also target enhanced energy conservation, mainly through adopting a new exhaust-gas recirculation, low excess air combustion system and using high-efficiency invertor motors in key equipment. With these measures, the refurbished plant will reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by more than 20%, or 2 200 t/y of CO2, to help curb global warming.
Value
¥2.48-billion.
Duration
The project is slated for completion in March 2020.
