Nimbus Silver Superpit project, Australia
Name and Location
Nimbus Silver Superpit project, Australia.
Client
MacPhersons Resource.
Project Description
The Nimbus silver mine operated from 2003 to 2007, producing 3.6-million ounces of silver at an average grade of 352 g/t silver.
However, pit optimisation studies on the recently announced 46% upgrade in the Joint Ore Reserves Committee-classified mineral resource to 4.4-million tons at 129 g/t of silver for 18.3-million ounces of silver have now confirmed that the two original openpits at Nimbus – the East pit and the Discovery pit – can be merged into a single silver superpit.
Various optimisation scenarios are still being modelled; however, all the options propose that the new operations be a single superpit of about 900 m in length, 500 m in width and 205 m in depth.
Owing to the size of the proposed operations, the project is expected to be developed in phases.
Measured and indicated resources continue along strike and beneath the pits, and are expected to support further extensions to the Nimbus Silver Superpit in future mine-planning scenarios.
