Name of the Project
Ngonye solar plant.

Location
The project is located in the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone, in the south of Zambia.

Project Owner/s
The project will be owned by a special purpose vehicle 80% held by Enel subsidiary Enel Green Power (EGP) and 20% by the Zambia Industrial Development Corporation.

Project Description
The project forms part of the Scaling Solar programme, a World Bank Group solution assisting governments in quickly procuring and developing large-scale solar projects using private financing.

The facility is expected to produce about 70 GWh/y.

The Ngonye plant is supported by a 25-year power purchase agreement signed with Zambia’s State-owned utility Zesco.
