Jean Nel has resigned as a nonexecutive director of JSE-listed agriculture and agri-processing company Tongaat Hulett, with effect from October 17.

He has also stepped down as a member of Tongaat board’s audit and risk committee.

Nel had previously indicated to the board that he intended to step down as director, but that he would first assist and see through the finalisation and approval of the capital restructuring plan.

The restructuring plan was approved by the board on October 14.

"The board wishes to thank Mr Nel for his support and the invaluable guidance provided during the past three years," Tongaat says.
