Project Description
The project involves the construction of a new natural gas terminal to replace the Norsea gas terminal in Emden, north Germany, which has been operating since 1977.
The new terminal will be built on vacant land within the existing Emden terminal area.
While the project will not increase Norway’s gas-export capacity, the new facility’s functionality will be well tailored to future needs for receiving gas from fields in the Ekofisk area and other parts of the Norwegian continental shelf.

The contract is valued at €260-million.
Duration
The new natural gas terminal is set to go on stream at the end of 2015.
Latest Developments
The Linde Group has been awarded the contract to build a natural gas terminal.
The contract covers the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for the new terminal.
The project is based on the front-end engineering design provided by Gassco.
The initial work will be carried out by Linde Engineering at The Linde Group’s site, in Dresden. Construction will start in Emden later this year.
The facility will be preassembled in modules to the greatest possible extent and put together at the construction site.
