Name of the project and location
NamPower base-load power station, Walvis Bay, Namibia.

Project description
Namibia's power utility NamPower is looking into the feasibility of building a new 400-MW base-load power station in Walvis Bay and thereby doubling its generating capacity to over 780 MW.

The feasibility study will determine the fuel choice for the proposed new plant. Moreover, it will also determine the design parameters of the plant, supply technical information on the grid-connection availability and determine building standards to suit local conditions.

The utility has already reserved the site for the construction of the new power station. It will be located in the north of Walvis Bay, the country's main Namibian harbour. The plant will be built adjacent to the bay.
