Name and Location
Nacala logistics project, Mozambique.

Client
ENRC.

Project Description
The project will allow ENRC to transport coal from Tete province to the northern coastal city of Nacala.

The rail line and an associated coal terminal will have a baseload capacity of 40-million tons a year, but will be able to handle up to 60-million tons a year, if needed.

The project could be expanded to 100-million tons in the future.

Access to the line will be open, with capacity allocated by an independent regulator.

Value
A cost for the project has not been confirmed; however, ENRC has indicated that it will be cost-competitive to Brazilian miner Vale’s 18-million-ton logistics corridor.

Duration
Construction is expected to start in the first-quarter of 2014 and trains are expected to start running in late 2015 or early 2016.
