The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa) has appointed Toyota South Africa Motors president and CEO Dr Johan van Zyl its president for 2013.

Van Zyl succeeded Volkswagen Group South Africa MD David Powels.

The announcement was made at the industry body’s general member meeting in February and followed the adoption of a new constitution that makes provision for a joint car/light commercial vehicle division, a heavy commercial vehicle division and an importers and distributors division.

Further, Nissan South Africa MD Mike Whitfield was elected Naamsa VP from the ranks of manufacturers and Asso- ciated Motor Holdings Group CEO Manny De Canha VP from the ranks of importers and distributors.
