PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold developer Mutiny Gold has declared a maiden Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of 650 000 t, grading 54% iron at its Rocksteady project, within the Gullewa tenement, in Western Australia.

The Gullewa tenement is also host to Mutiny’s flagship Deflector gold project.

“While a Deflector gold/copper mine is our key project, we have a multi-mine strategy which encompasses the development of additional gold and iron mines,” Mutiny MD John Greeve said on Friday.

He noted that an immediate opportunity had been identified at the historic Rocksteady iron field, and noted that Mutiny had focused on bringing the project into production, and on generating early cash flow.

The company had also identified extensions of Rocksteady that would likely increase the project’s resource base.

“Our Gullewa tenements contain vast mineral wealth, including 170 km of unexplored banded iron formation. Rocksteady may potentially be just one of several iron deposits to be commercially developed,” said Greeve.

Mutiny would now follow up on previously generated exploration targets to test the full extent of the Rocksteady mining lease. A combined exploration target of between 1.5-million tonnes and 4.5-million tonnes of hematite mineralisation had been identified to date.
