A new series of 5 kW multi-ranging, single-output programmable DC power supplies has been announced.

The power supplies offer up to 1 000 V or 80 A in a compact 2U form factor and are particularly suited for both bench use and automated test system applications.

Comtest states that the B&K Precision MR series offers multi-range functionality and provides users with added flexibility in the form of additional voltage and current combinations, capable of replacing multiple fixed-range power supplies.

The MR series is B&K Precision's first cTUVus certified instrument family. The cTUVus certification mark demonstrates compliance with Canadian standards association and underwriters laboratory safety standards and approval for the North American market.

Another first is the local area network (LAN) extensions for instrumentation-compliant LAN interface and interchangeable virtual instrument drivers, which simplifies system development and integration. Additional features include a range of industry-standard interfaces combined with low noise characteristics.

The MR series also includes faster command response times of 10 ms, a single-phase AC input, a built-in solar array simulator and higher power density, with 2U form factor.

The series has a three-year warranty and includes a downloadable user manual, certificate of calibration, test report and AC power cord.  Optional accessories include a RKPVS rack mount kit, and SASPVS solar array simulation software.
