esmo group, a full-service systems integrator, has unveiled new configurations of UniCell, its cross-industry compact automation housing solution for manufacturers.

The enclosure is an all-in-one offering that enables manufacturers to streamline and optimise processes, helping to improve productivity levels, production stability, and occupational safety. Described as highly standardised yet fully customisable, the modular solution can be deployed on stand-alone machines or in a network of complex systems. The automation housing units can be configured to perform specific production or testing tasks, such as joining operations, handling, assembly, inspection, catering to a variety of automation needs with the flexibility to meet specific user requirements and challenging demands.

The UniCell is most suitable for small to medium-sized components that require mid- to high-cycle rates but is relevant for all industries. The automation cell boasts a sophisticated, innovative safety and lighting guidance system, which aims to enhance occupational safety on the shopfloor while boosting productivity.  The modules are designed to be easy to operate, maintain, and transport around the production facility.

Additional features of the unit include:

  • Robust and sturdy design, offering high rigidity because of its welded steel machine frame
  • Optimum damping or shock absorption of dynamic robot motions, even at high traversing speeds and force or load impacts
  • Plug-and-play, with an optional customer-specific interface
  • Enclosed cell with pressure control systems
  • Optimised accessibility, facilitating maintenance and cleaning operations
  • Integrated, consistently comprehensive safety concept, including emergency off, safety switches and light barriers
  • Standard interfaces that meet Industry 4.0 pre-requisites
  • User-friendly Human Machine Interface touch display for convenient system control
  • Control cabinet can be integrated into system substructure plus storage option for robotics or vision controller

“With the UniCell, we’re offering manufacturers a sophisticated enclosure that integrates a comprehensive safety concept. Its modular design also promotes scalability and facilitates quick installation, which translates to short delivery and assembly times — especially useful for customers who cannot afford extensive downtimes,” commented esmo head of Business Unit Automation Lars Ingenhag.
