Project Description
The 700 MW Mynera project is located between three regions – Iringa, Njombe and Morogoro – and will be built along the Rufiji river cascade.

Value
Preliminary estimates show that the project will cost $1-billion to build.

Duration
It is envisioned that the Mnyera hydropower project will start producing electricity by 2015.

Latest Developments
Queiroz Galvão Construction has completed a preliminary study on Mnyera project.

The next stage will involve the establishment of a technical committee, comprising members of Rubada and other government agencies. The committee will then meet with their Brazilian counterparts for final consensus, after which the environmental-impact assessment and actual implementation will follow.
