JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mining major GlencoreXstrata has put out an invitation to tender for the mining of silica at the Glencore Merafe chrome venture’s Rietvlei silica mine.

The mine was looking to enter into a three-year agreement with the option to renew the contract for a further two years thereafter.

Interested parties had to register with Glencore by November 21 and were invited to attend a site meeting on November 22.

The Rietvlei opencast silica mine is located 15 km outside Rustenburg, in the North West.
