PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Millennium Minerals on Tuesday told shareholders that mining at its Nullagine openpit operations would restart within 48 hours, after a key supply route was reopened.

The miner had previously suspended openpit mining in an effort to conserve fuel, as supply routes to the mine were closed down owing to bad weather. Operations at the processing plant continued, with existing stockpiles acting as feedstock.

The company also took the opportunity to bring forward a planned processing maintenance shutdown.

Millennium on Tuesday noted that with the supply routes reopened, mining activities and ore haulage were expected to restart before the end of the week.

During the full year ended December, the Nullagine mine delivered some 63 247 oz of gold, while production for the three months to December reached 14 067 oz.
