Project Description
The Mihara MSW incineration plant was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and completed in March 1999. Its current incineration facilities consist of two stokers, each with 60 t/d capacity and related equipment.

The newly ordered work will comprise the replacement or revamping of the plant’s core equipment, including facilities for refuse receiving and feeding, incineration, gas cooling, flue gas treatment, waste heat use, ventilation and ash discharge, as well as the electrical and instrumentation system.

Energy conservation will be pursued through the implementation of high-efficiency motors in various equipment that, together with other improvements, will enable a reduction of more than 3%, or about 78 t, in carbon dioxide emissions a year.

Latest Developments
MHI Environmental & Chemical Engineering (MHIEC), a subsidiary of MHI, has received an order from Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, to refurbish the core equipment of its MSW incineration plant.

The modification work involves revamping of the two stokers to extend the plant’s operational life and boost its energy-saving capability.
