PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Copper developer Metallum has set an exploration target of between 280 000 t and 360 000 t, at a copper grade of between 2.9% and 4.75% for its San Sebastian copper mine, in Chile.

The exploration target covers some 400 m of the 6 km of mapped strike of the San Sebastian vein, and was based on data collected over the past six months.

“Our initial exploration target for the immediate mine area demonstrates the potential of the San Sebastian vein over a very limited strike length,” said MD Zeff Reeves.

“The parameters used to calculate the exploration target are considered very conservative given that we have mapped this vein for over 6 km along strike and have a delivered grade to the processing facility of around 4.8% copper to date.”

Reeve noted that as additional levels were established at the mine, Metallum hoped to have sufficient data and geological confidence to calculate a maiden mineral resource at the mine.

Metallum took full ownership of the San Sebastian project in December last year, with the project covering about 50 ha adjoining its existing El Roble project area.
