Project Description
The project entails the construction of a 40 MW wave farm off the north coast of Lewis, in the Western Isles of Scotland, and will include the installation of an interconnector cable to take the surplus green energy from Lewis to the mainland.
The project will involve the installation of between 40 and 50 of Aquamarine’s proprietary Oyster wave devices – a simple mechanical, hinged flap connected to the seabed at depths of between 9 m and 12 m – along the coast at Lag na Greine, one of the best wave-energy locations in Europe.
