Project Description
Mariah is a large-scale wind power development project in Texas, with a planned capacity of 2 200 MW in Phase 1, up to 2 800 MW in Phase 2 and 5 000 MW in Phase 3.
Phase 1 will connect 1 200 MW to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (Ercot) and 1 000 MW to the Eastern interconnection.
Phase 2 of the project will be developed only if the Tres Amigas SuperStation goes ahead and the interconnections are connected with sufficient capacity. Tres Amigas will enable the connection of US’s three primary interconnections – Western
Electricity Coordinating Council, Eastern and Ercot – while integrating substantial renewable-energy sources. This phase could require some additional investment in grid access.
Phase 3 depends on further transmission improvements in the west and north-west, resolving significant bottlenecks in the transmission systems.
