Project description
The project will improve living conditions and incomes of the 48 000 inhabitants living in the Manombo area through investments in the domains of rural infrastructure, improving food production and providing secure access to land, as well as credit facilities. The aim is to reduce rural poverty in the South West region where poverty levels in rural areas stand at 73,5%, compared with 52% in urban areas, in line with the government's Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper and the Madagascar Action plan.
Value
The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Madagascar have signed a loan and grant worth $15,3-million, to finance the project. The support will cover 82% of the total project cost.
