Project Description
The project involves the construction of a new cement grinding plant in Ciudad Sandino, Managua, which is expected to increase CEMEX’s cement production capacity in Nicaragua by about 104%.
The grinding mill will be completed in two phases.
The first phase will include the procurement and the installation of a cement grinding mill with an estimated production capacity of 220 000 t.
Phase 2 includes the installation of a second cement grinding mill with a production capacity of 220 000 t/y.
The grinding plant is expected to reach cement production capacity of about 860 000 t/y by 2017.
More than 200 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase, with 100 direct and indirect jobs once operations are started.
Value
Phase 1 will cost about $30-million.
Phase 2 will cost an estimated $25-million.
Duration
Phase 1 is expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2015.
Phase 2 is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
