PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Australian rare earths mining company Lynas has appointed telecommunications executive Amanda Lacaze as its executive director and CEO, following the resignation of Eric Noyrez.

Lacaze has been a nonexecutive director of Lynas since the start of this year. She has previously held a number of executive positions, including that of CEO of Commander Communications, executive chairperson of Orion Telecommunications, and CEO of AOL7.

Lynas chairperson Nicholas Curtis said on Thursday that Lacaze brought more than 25 years of experience to Lynas, and had strong expertise in strategic marketing and pricing and a proven track record of delivering outstanding financial performances.

“This combination of production and marketing expertise will be invaluable in helping to secure positive cash flow and profitability as Lynas prepares to enter its second year of production,” Curtis added.

The ASX-listed miner recently launched a A$40-million capital raising to fund working capital needs during the ramp-up of its Advanced Materials Plant, in Malaysia.

The company was targeting a run rate of 11 000 t/y by the June quarter of this year.
