ASX-listed Lotus Resources has resumed uranium production at its Kayelekera mine, in Malawi, after processing operations had to be suspended on April 4, following fire damage to two electrical control panels in the drying and packaging area.

Lotus notes that interim engineered panels have been successfully installed, allowing processing operations to resume.

“While this interruption was not ideal, the team has combined its expertise and critical spares on site to quickly alleviate downtime and enable Lotus to resume processing in less than two weeks. New panels are expected to be delivered to site and installed in the coming weeks,” says Lotus MD Greg Bittar.

Lotus says it remains on track to achieve steady-state production at Kayelekera for the second quarter of this calendar year.
