Project Description
The Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway is the first freeway project procured under Arizona’s public–private partnership statute, and the ADOT’s first design, build and maintain project. The project will deliver 35 km of improved mobility through the construction of three general-use lanes and one high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane, and includes modern features of rubberised asphalt and aesthetics that reflect the aspirations of nearby communities.

Major construction is expected to begin in 2016, with lanes opening in early 2020.
Latest Developments
A Fluor Corporation-led joint venture (JV) has been awarded the design, build and maintain project by the ADOT to provide design, construction and maintenance services for the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway. The Fluor-led JV, Connect 202 Partners, is a design, build and maintenance partnership comprising Fluor Enterprises, Granite Construction, Ames Construction, Parsons|Brinckerhoff as the lead designer and DBi Services as the joint maintenance partner. Fluor and DBi Services will maintain the lanes for 30 years, with oversight from the ADOT.
