LONGi launched its battery energy storage system (BESS) solutions at a side event during the Africa Energy Forum (AEF) 2026, marking the occasion with a 300MW solar and storage agreement with developer SOLA.

The launch, attended by senior industry leaders including LONGi’s Vice President, Mr. Louis Liu, and keynote speaker Dr. Rethabile Melamu as guest of honour; highlighted LONGi’s expanding role in delivering integrated, end-to-end photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions to support Africa’s energy transition

The agreement with SOLA represents a milestone for LONGi in the region, combining large-scale solar generation with storage to improve grid stability and energy reliability.

At the event, LONGi showcased its BESS portfolio, including the M5 microgrid system, designed for weak-grid and off-grid environments. The system enables seamless switching between grid and off-grid modes with zero-millisecond transfer, while supporting scalable deployments from 250 kW to 6 MW.
It is also designed to reduce diesel generator consumption by up to 80% and integrates long-life lithium iron phosphate batteries exceeding 8,000 cycles.

During his LONGi One launch event speech, The Vice President, Mr. Louis Liu, stated: “Today, our customers expect more than PV technology alone. They are seeking integrated solutions, long-term reliability, and partners who can support them throughout the entire lifecycle of their projects. That is why we are introducing the LONGi ONE Strategy - One System. One Platform. One Responsibility.”

LONGi’s participation during AEF 2026, held from June 16 to 19 in Cape Town, presented a platform to showcase the company’s portfolio of high-efficiency solar modules engineered for performance in Africa’s operating conditions.

Products on display included the Hi-MO series and advanced module technologies featuring anti-hail and anti-glare with enhanced durability characteristics. LONGi also highlighted its latest high-efficiency solutions, including modules achieving up to 25.54% efficiency and enhanced structural resilience for extreme environments.

The company highlighted these technologies tailored to improve performance and reliability in high-temperature, high-irradiance markets across the continent.

LONGi’s President for Africa also engaged with regional media during the forum, including an interview with ESI Africa.

LONGi said its presence at AEF and the launch of its storage solutions reflect its commitment to supporting Africa’s growing demand for reliable, cost-effective clean energy systems.
