Latest Developments
Siemens Metals Technologies has been awarded the contract to build the mill.
This comprises the erection of the supplied technological equipment and additional services for the site project management.
The merchant-bar line will consist of 21 rolling stands, a heat-treatment system, a 120 m cooling bed and machines for counting, bundling and binding the bars.
The maximum rolling speed will be 16 m/s.
The wire-rod mill will reach speeds of up to 105 m/s and produce rods or wire coils.
The equipment to be supplied by Siemens includes a ten-stand monoblock finishing mill, pinch rolls, the laying head, a cooling conveyor and machines for forming and compacting coils. The scope will also include shears to crop and cut the end products to size on both rolling lines.

On Budget and on Time?
The project was suspended in 2008 because of the global financial crisis, and those parts of the plant that had already been delivered were put into storage.
