Malawi’s Lilongwe Water Board is seeking bids for the supply and commissioning of a water treatment plant to be containerised for ease of transport from one site to another within the city.

The water board says the plant must have all the necessary components for coagulation, flocculation, clarification, filtration and disinfection in a compact system, and must also have a generator to power the system.

“The treatment units shall be made of corrosion-resistant frame and piping,” says the water board.

Bids must be accompanied by a bid security in form of a $ 8 000 bank guarantee. The successful tenderer will be required to provide a performance guarantee of 2% of the contract amount within 30 days of receipt of notification of award.

Selection criteria include an average yearly turnover of at least 1.5 times the bid amount for the last three years and completion of at least three similar contracts in the last five years.

“The manufacturer should have received internationally approved certification for quality management standards for the goods offered in the bid,” says the water board.

The deadline for bid submission is September 23.
