Stage 4 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 today until 05:00 on Thursday, Eskom announced.

Thereafter, load shedding will be progressively reduced until it reaches Stage 1 by Sunday.

Breakdowns are currently at 16 283 MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 5 065 MW, Eskom said.

Over the past 24 hours, a generation unit at Kriel Power Station was returned to service. In the same period, a generating unit each at Camden and Duvha power stations was taken offline for repairs. The delays in returning a unit to service at Kendal and two units each at Kriel and Tutuka power stations contributed to the current capacity constraints, Eskom said.
