Liza oilfield development project.

Location
Guyana.

Phase 1 of the development is about 190 km offshore in water depths of 1500 m to 1 900 m.

Client
Esso Exploration and Production Guyana, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, is operator and holds a 45% interest in the project. Hess Guyana Exploration holds a 30% interest and CNOOC Nexen Petroleum Guyana holds 25%.

Project Description
Liza Phase 1 involves the conversion of an oil tanker into a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel named Liza Destiny, along with four undersea drill centres with 17 production wells.

Liza Destiny will have a production capacity of 120 000 bb/d. A second FPSO with a capacity of 220 000 bbl/d is being planned as part of the Liza Phase 2 development, and a third phase is under consideration for the Payara development.

These three developments will produce more than 500 000 bb/d.

Potential Job Creation
About 50% of ExxonMobil’s employees, con-tractors and subcontractors are Guyanese, a number that will continue to increase as operations progress.
