Project Description
The project involves the construction of a very large LPG carrier for Astomos Energy.
The newly ordered LPG carrier will measure 230 m in length, 36.6 m in width and 11.1 m in draft, with a gross tonnage of 48 300 t and a deadweight tonnage of 51 100 t. It will have capacity to carry up to 83 000 m3 of LPG.
A unique hull design and other features will provide the carrier with superlative fuel efficiency and outstanding adaptability to the diverse connecting conditions of the world’s LPG terminals. The ship will also be equipped with the industry’s most advanced systems, including mooring arrangement, to enable passage through the expanding Panama Canal, which is expected to become operable in early 2016.

Latest Developments
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has received an order from Astomos Energy for the LPG carrier. Construction, as with the two previously ordered vessels, will be carried out at MHI’s Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works.
