Name and Location
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal expansion project, Louisiana, US.

Client
Trunkline LNG Export, a subsidiary of Southern Union Company.

Project Description
The project involves the potential expansion of the existing LNG import terminal, located in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The proposed expansion includes an LNG liquefaction plant, with a total export capacity of up to 15-million tonnes a year, so that a portion of the additional supplies of natural gas produced from shale gasfields across the US can be exported.

The total liquefaction capacity could be achieved using up to three identical trains, with associated and offsite facilities, and the re-use of the existing LNG offloading, storage and marine facilities.

Value
Not stated.

Duration
Initial export to global markets from the facility’s first train is expected to begin in 2018.

Latest Developments
Technip has been awarded a contract by Trunkline LNG Export for the front-end engineering and design (Feed) contract for the potential expansion of the existing LNG import terminal. Air Products has been selected to supply its C3MR liquefaction process technology for this Feed study.

The Feed is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2014.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
Technip (Feed) and Air Products (liquefaction process technology).
